Website Design & Search Engine Optimization: Muttville Senior Dog Rescue

Client: Muttville Senior Dog Rescue

Challenge: Started in 2008, Muttville launched with a great brand presence and needed a 2.0 website to build its social media and online presence. The site’s developer, Carol Balacek, chose Ruby on Rails CMS, and requested a site design that could grow with the organization modularly and also boldly emphasize its brand and mission.

Switchblade Solution: For non profits, the key to an effective website draws attention to its  main call-to-actions: Donate, Spotlight the cause/mission, and showcase its latest events/news. We felt we did a pretty good job, building modular elements to rotate messages and highlight key actions as needed. Plus the branding always remains king on the site, and the dogs always take center stage.

This site was nominated in 2012 for Best Online Adoption Site in Bay Woof’s Beast of the Bay, and Muttville has won countless other awards, such as Best Rescue Group (for 3 years in a row), Best Fundraiser (Moolah For Mutts), and San Francisco’s Favorite Charity in 7×7 Magazine.
